Little Red Riding Hood

Misti, our Little Red Riding Hood, was deceived by the big bad wolf, a vicious person disguised as someone who cared for her. After years in an abusive relationship, she found the courage to walk out and regained control of her castle.

"I grew up in a very religious family. From a young age I was told that my entire reason for being was to be a wife and mother. If I did what I was taught, had kids and a happy husband I would find favor with God and I would be blessed. It never seemed quite right to me, but it was all I knew.

My marriage was arranged at age 18, and we started having kids right away. On the outside everything looked picture perfect. My husband had a successful business, I was a happy stay at home mom with six active kids. But that was far from the truth. What they didn't see was the emotional and physical abuse happening behind closed doors. I endured that abusive relationship for 15 years. I eventually was able to stop believing the lies I was told and walked away with the kids and the clothes on my back. It hasn't been easy, but when I look at my kids I know it was worth it.

I am part of this project to be an example for others in an abusive relationship. No one should ever have to go through what I did. We all deserve our happily ever after." -Misti
